Tutu gets non-violence award
10 April 2007 at 9:35 am | In Desmond Tutu, News, Sydney Peace Prize | 1 Comment1999 Sydney Peace Prize recipient Archbishop Desmond Tutu has been chosen to receive the inaugural Mahatma Gandhi Global Nonviolence Award. Archbishop Tutu is recognised “for his contributions to peace, encouragement of anonviolent approach to human relations and world affairs, and efforts to promotereconciliation and forgiveness among people.”
The award is conferred by the Mahatma Gandhi Center for Global Nonviolence at James Madison University. Tutu will receive the prize in a ceremony on 21 September 2007, the International Day of Peace.
