Archbishop Desmond Tutu received two honourary degrees from two Belfast universities in as many days this week.

On Tuesday (3 July) the Nobel Laureate and Sydney Peace Prize recipient received an honorary doctorate for distinction in public service from the Queen’s University.

Two days later on Thursday (5 July), Tutu received the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws for his “significant contribution to overcoming apartheid and for encouraging and working for peace in South Africa” from the University of Ulster.
